Historical Inheritance That You Must See

Historical inheritance that you must see – Once you have decided to start your gulet cruise from Turkey, it is certainly advisable to also visit a few of the most important historical legacies.

If you have a group of children with you who have no appetite for history and culture, well then they just stay on the yacht and can enjoy themselves with everything on board:)

Ephesus is certainly number 1!
After more than 130 years of excavations, it is clear to see how many nations and rulers have left their mark on the ancient city. Cariers, Lelegiers, Persians, Greeks, Romans and Byzantines; they all made their contribution in this way.

In Ephesus you will find the remains of one of the classic seven wonders of the world, the Temple of Artemis. While many of the buildings in Ephesus are still intact, there is not much left of this temple. A stack of blocks that has been shaped into a column.

The rest was lost due to, among other things, vandalism and fires. Parts that were damaged, but could still be used for other buildings, have been removed. You will find eight columns in the Aya Sophia in Istanbul.

If you wander through the ruins of Ephesus, it is hard to imagine that this was a lively port and trading town 2,000 years ago. But it really was! After the city was founded some 3,500 years ago by the son of the Athenian king, Androklos, it flourished completely.

Then we also have the sunken city of Kekova, the excavations of Myra and Demre, not to mention the ancient city of Olympos. If you are going with your gulet cruise to Antalya, Kemer and Kas then these viewings must be on your list.

If you start from Göcek or Fethiye, walk a part of the lycian road. This in total 540 km long road takes you through a whole piece of history that is actually incomprehensible. In addition, nature, the ruins and everything else that you encounter are a miracle. As you can see there are many things to see during your cruise, so many that you will definitely come back again.
