Leros
Leros
Leros is a beautiful Greek island that lies between Patmos and Kalymnos. It is a surprisingly beautiful holiday destination with green hills, quiet sandy beaches and authentic, Greek villages.
It is an island with fertile valleys, overgrown hills and beautiful beaches. The capital is Agia Marina, nowadays merged with the other two villages on the other side of the hill, Platanos and Panteli. In the capital you will find nice terraces, colorful buildings, fishing boats and sailing boats everywhere. At the top of the mountain stands the impressive Leros castle!
Lakki, 3 kilometers south of Agia Marina, is the largest port on the island. This is also one of the largest and best natural harbors in the Mediterranean. Small boats and catamarans usually use the port of Agia Marina. Alinda, Krithoni, Xirokampos, Gourna and Partheni are coastal towns with beaches.
You can swim on the beaches of Agia Marina, Panteli, Vromolithos, Alinda, Lakki, Merikia and Xirokampos. However, the most popular resorts on the island are those of Panteli and Alinda.
