Karpathos
Karpathos
Karpathos is a very beautiful Greek island that is still peaceful and unaffected by mass tourism. It is the second island in size of the Dodecanese archipelago and lies between Rhodes and Crete.
Not only the capital, but also the main port of Karpathos is Karpathos city or Pigadia on the southeast coast. Karpathos is a mountainous island, the highest peak is Kali Limni at 1,214 meters altitude. The south coast of Karpathos is relatively flat, which is why most villages can be found there.
Pigadia or Karpathos city was initially built with money sent home by Greek immigrants in the United States and does not have the local style of architecture that can be found in the older villages.
Karpathos is the second largest island of the Dodecanese. An elongated, narrow and mountainous island with picturesque villages hidden among the greenery on the mountain slopes and attractive fishing villages flanked by sandy beaches.
