Astypalaia
Astypalaia
Astypalaia (or Astypalea) is a remote island, far away from the hectic pace and mass tourism. It is an undiscovered gem where it sometimes seems as if time has stood still and where you experience the authentic Greek island life.
The western part is called the “outer island” and the eastern part the “inner island”. The bottom of the island is brown and gray in color and there are beautiful bays with sandy beaches. The name Astypalea comes from mythology.
Like Europe, she was a daughter of Finikos and Perimides. This island has been inhabited since prehistoric times and, like all other islands in the area, has been dominated by Romans, Venetians, Turks, Italians and only came to Greece in 1948.
From the sea, the capital Chora with its white houses, its fortress and the blue of the sea in the foreground of unparalleled beauty. Chora is a very attractive town.
