Serifos
Serifos
Serifos is a Greek island that is part of the Cyclades island group. It lies below Kithnos and above Sifnos. The name Serifos is derived from the Greek “sterfos” which means barren or barren, but nothing could be further from the truth. The island has a lot of greenery and water.
Even gold and iron have been mined here in the past. When you approach Serifos by boat, you initially think of a rock in the middle of the sea. However, Serifos may have the best sandy beaches in the Cyclades. The island is also ideal for walkers and people who want to avoid the big crowds.
The capital is Chora or Serifos and is built on a steep mountain. The port is called Livadi and is located on the eastern side of the island. What you should definitely visit is “Moni Taxiarchon” near the village of Galani, where you can see wall paintings.
The most beautiful beaches are: Mega Livadi, Agios Sostis, Psili Ammos, Agios Ioannis, Koutalas and Sikamia. Serifos town (or Chora) is built on a perpendicular rock in Cycladic architecture. At the top is a Venetian castle. The city has many whitewashed alleys, windmills and beautiful views.
