Australia
When you think of Australia, you think of sun, vast plains, road trips and cheerfully hopping kangaroos. It should therefore come as no surprise that many tourists are willing to take the long flight time for granted to visit this island, on the other side of the planet. But did you know that Australia is also ideal for winter sports, for example? With an area of no less than 7.7 million square kilometers, Australia is the largest island, and the world’s fifth largest country after all. It has much more to offer than most tourists expect.
Australia has been inhabited by the Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years, before it was ‘discovered’ in 1606 by a Dutch skipper, Willem Janszoon. The original population of Australia consisted and consists of different tribes with their own dialects, customs and cultures.
Australia is not difficult to find on the map. The island is located between the Indian Ocean and the Tasman Sea. Much of the country is desert, but Australia also has rainforests, mountain ranges, steppes and savannas. The vast majority of residents live on the east coast. The southwest, near Perth, is also fairly densely populated. Most of the interior, however, is virtually uninhabited. The centrally located Alice Springs is about the only exception.
It is not for nothing that many thousands of European tourists take the long journey to this beautiful country. An individual trip to Australia gives you complete freedom to discover this country. Because it is a safe and modern destination, you can easily get around here on your own. A yacht charter holiday in Australia is definitely something completely different than in Europe. For those who love adventure and want something completely different, this is a unique opportunity.
