Argo - Saronic Islands
Argo – Saronic Islands
The Saronic Islands lie in the Saronic Gulf, which is the southwest of Attica and northwest of the Peloponnese. They are very popular islands, especially for Greek tourists (mainly from Attica and the Peloponnese), because they are close to the mainland and can be easily reached via various ports (including Piraeus).
They are therefore very busy on public holidays and at weekends. The Saronic islands are: Poros, Salamis, Aegina and Agkistri. In one breath with the Saronic islands, Hydra and Spetses are also mentioned in Greece. If you look at the map below, you can clearly see that Spetses is in the Argolic Gulf and Hydra is on the edge of the Saronic Gulf. However, in Greece people have often made the habit of calling all these islands the Saronic Islands.
