The Sporades
The Sporades
The Sporades is a small group of islands in the Aegean Sea. They are roughly north of Evia and the Cyclades, south of Thessaloniki and east of Volos. Skopelos, Alonissos, Skiathos and Skyros are the islands that belong to this.
It is a green island group with an emerald-green color of the sea. Touristally speaking, Skiathos is by far the busiest island due to the presence of an airport and beautiful beaches. To the East lies Skopelos with dense mountains, a picturesque harbor and most of the shooting locations of the Mama Mia film. The quiet Alonnisos is the most Eastern and has a dense pine forest and a beautiful underwater world, which is perfect for those who like to do some diving.
