Kalymnos
Kalymnos
Between the islands of Kos and Leros is the fourth largest island of the Dodecanese (literally 12 islands): Kalymnos. The capital is Pothia, where around 11,000 people live. The port of Pothia is one of the most important in Greece. Pothia is located in a bay in the south of the island.
When you arrive in the port of Kalymnos, you see the colorful houses on the slopes of the mountains. It is nice to walk through the narrow cobbled alleys in the city. There are all kinds of shops here.
It is worthwhile to visit the Church of Jesus the Savior in Kalymnos Town and the Archaeological Museum, the Cave of the 7 Virgins and the Cave of Kefalas with archaeological finds.
There are many churches with beautiful icons on the island. On Kalymnos you can go diving, sport climbing, windsurfing, renting a yacht, fishing and hiking. The houses on Kalymnos usually have 2 or 3 floors and the roofs are covered with ceramic roof tiles.
